Have you ever been guilty of caring way too much about what other people think about you? Just this past week, I let someone's opinion get the best of me, and it was a pretty awful feeling. At 31 years old, I’m still learning how to put on my “I-don’t-give-a-darn” attitude when it comes to others and their thoughts about things I say or do.
Decoupage! Big word, simple process for kids. In case you're unfamiliar, decoupaging is the art of gluing cut paper to an object. You can use all kinds of paper- napkins, wrapping paper, cupcake liners, paper doilies, photos, or (in this case) tissue paper.
This past week was extra busy for me. I rushed around like a mad woman, trying to accomplish a million things at once, only to start the insanity all over the next day. (Sound familiar, moms?) The silly thing is that I do it to myself! I don’t HAVE to squeeze grocery shopping, working out, and laundry into one morning. I choose to because I want to shorten my “to-do” list.
I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by the oh-so-wonderful Becky of Cuddle Fairy. Thank you, Becky! Becky's blog focuses on positive parenting. Her posts are pleasant, uplifting, and helpful. Not to mention, Becky's purple Cuddle Fairy logo is absolutely adorable! :)
One morning while I was catching up on social media happenings, I came across a fellow parent's Facebook post about a product called Zipzicles. Intrigued, I visited the Zipzicles Website, and I knew immediately that I had to try them!
I'm feeling all “lovey-dovey” and sentimental for this edition of my Weekly Words of Inspiration. With my daughter’s third birthday on the horizon, I can’t stop thinking about how quickly my little girl is growing up! It seems like yesterday that she was a tiny baby, relying on my husband and myself for her every need. Today, she’s a spirited, independent, spitfire of a little girl with her own agenda and an opinion about everything!
It's become a tradition that my daughter makes a craft for each of her grandmothers for Mother's Day gifts. The first year (when she was 11 months old), I stamped her footprints on a poster and made a collage of photos. Last year, she painted flower pots and helped to plant some inpatients in them. This year, she made paper flowers.
Of course, my mom and mother-in-law are huge supporters of my blog, so I wasn't about to post the paper flowers craft and spoil the surprise! Now that Mother's Day has passed, it's safe to share these little creations with the world.
We've all heard the expression that life is like a winding road, complete with twists and turns, smooth sections, and bumpy patches. Potholes and sharp curves are inevitable on the road of life. Something unexpected happens, stress levels rise, and we spend time and energy trying to figure out how to get through the rough patch and back on the straight and narrow. The situations that cause me the most anxiety are those that I cannot control. I can be a worry wart and an excessive contemplator to the point where I'll think and think and THINK about a problem until I've blown it up into something WAY worse than it actually is! (Anyone else do this?)
I am undeniably grateful to be the mother of a beautiful, spirited little girl. Motherhood has been the most amazing, rewarding, and downright exhausting experience of my life. There are days when I feel like "Supermom"- ready to conquer the world one play date at a time! On other occasions, I'm questioning every decision I've ever made and wondering if I'm doing it right.
Those loving snuggles at bed time will serve as a reminder that even though we aren't perfect, our children love us unconditionally! <3
This is the very first quote I've ever written and designed! (I'm just a bit excited!) I was inspired to begin writing quotes by a former blogger named Dawn. Who knew it would be so fun? I'm calling my quotes "My Weekly Words of Inspiration." and I plan to post a new one each week. I hope you all enjoyed this one! :)
