Without further ado, here are Tracey's Fantastic Things You Can Get Away With When You Have Kids!
When I was younger, I had to share my room with my siblings. The only place that resonated with my individuality throughout our family home was a corner where my bed used to be. Now, I have a chance to decorate my girls’ rooms. So, I end up getting my perfect childhood after all. And even though it is only going to be like that until they become teens and lock up, for now I am savoring the moment and sparkling up their room, just the way I like it.
Watching cartoons was always my favorite thing to do when I was a little girl, and I have passed that on to my girls. In turn, they have become the alibi I needed to sneak off to the cinema and watch the new releases. So much so, that the four of us have become the biggest fans of Frozen, and we have a blast every time we watch it. Now, what’s bad about that?
The entire family is absolutely infatuated with sweets. This makes for an ideal opportunity to satisfy my sweet tooth as well. My kids are the perfect reason for making cakes, cookies and muffins, and drinking hot cocoa with marshmallows whenever I feel like it. Also, I passed on my love of sweets to my girls, so they are always happy to help me out in the kitchen and share warm cups of cocoa with me on chilly winter evenings. On the other hand, when I don’t have room to make sweets, you can catch me sneaking off with chocolate from the girls’ holiday stash.
Singing and Dancing
Singing and dancing were a major part of my childhood. However, when I became an adult, I had to suppress that, so not to come off as childish. But now, I can sing and dance with my girls. It has become such a wide-spread activity in our house that we dance after dinner and sing in all the rooms. Since my daughters influence us as well, you can find a copy of the latest One Direction album in our car, to which my husband and I sing on our way to work.
Another silly thing I started doing again, together with my daughters, is making prank phone calls to my parents. We muffle our voices or do accents and have fun with the grandparents. We end up laughing our socks off, and they are none the wiser.

The Perfect Excuse
Children can be the excuse you are looking for when you have an exhausting day or you’re just too lazy to do something. We all know the situation when you think you’ve finished all the work, you put your feet up to relax, and your husband calls- “Dear could you…”, or something else just then comes up. Well, no, actually I couldn’t. I want to relax! And my girls become the perfect excuse to get out of doing something. I am not especially proud, but at least once in awhile you need to sit back and take it easy for a bit.
There are many great things about having kids. But my favorite is getting away with everything I couldn’t do as a child and reliving my best childhood moments together with them. They are my perfect excuse to be silly and a girl once again. And in the end, the most important thing is that we all have fun and spend quality time together doing the things that make us happy.
