Have you ever been guilty of caring way too much about what other people think about you? Just this past week, I let someone's opinion get the best of me, and it was a pretty awful feeling. At 31 years old, I’m still learning how to put on my “I-don’t-give-a-darn” attitude when it comes to others and their thoughts about things I say or do.
I realize that there’s nothing I can do to control the way people think and feel about me. So why do I let others’ opinions bother me so much? I am ME. I am exactly who I was meant to be. I will not change for anyone but ME (unless I’m unintentionally hurting the ones I love). I’m the mom, wife, daughter, and friend that God intended, and no one’s negative opinions of the things I say and do should affect my mood or change my opinion about ANYTHING (parenting, religion, family values, friendship, etc).
I share these Weekly Words of Inspiration as a reminder to myself and others about the importance of being true to yourself. I believe that we are who we are who are for a reason. If we’re fortunate to have people who love and support us in our lives, we have to be doing something right! So don’t alter yourself, don’t say something that’s not of your character, and don’t waste your time thinking about how you can change someone’s mind about something you said or did. It’s not worth the energy, and there are much more important things to think about. Now, go have a wonderful day being YOU! :)
