Here's how we made our toilet paper roll bird feeders:
- Peanut butter
- Toilet paper rolls
- Pipe cleaners
- Hole punch
- Bird Seed
Punch two holes in the top of each toilet paper roll for the pipe cleaner hanger (approximately 1/4" down). If you skip step, it will be harder to punch holes to hang the bird feeder later, since it will be covered with peanut butter and bird seed.
Now, you're ready to hang the feeder and get to the bird watching fun!
I encourage anyone with a young child to explore nature through bird watching. Bird watching teaches children patience (as they wait for birds to appear), observation skills (looking for details such as color and listening to unique songs), and deduction (comparing two species).
Happy bird watching, friends!
